USA Boxing
USA Boxing is the national governing body for Olympic-style boxing, it is the United States’ member organization of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA).
As a national governing body, USA Boxing is responsible for the administration, development and promotion of Olympic-style boxing in the United States.
USA Boxing is comprised of 56 Local Boxing Committees (LBCs), which are grouped into 14 geographical regions. These LBCs, along with the coaches, athletes, and officials, form the backbone of USA Boxing and Olympic-style boxing in the United States.
USA Boxing’s athlete membership is comprised of both male and female boxers.
Olympic Style Amateur Boxing
Olympic Style Amateur Boxing Classes incorporate jump rope, stretching, cardio vascular, three minute rounds on the bags. (heavy, speed, double-end and uppercut) and supervised sparring. Students will learn offensive and defensive boxing skills, mental focus and discipline.
Amateur boxing is Not about knocking your opponent out! In comparison to professional boxing, the objective and even the scoring system are entirely different. Amateur boxing is scored on a system where each technically correct punch is worth one point. A good jab scores the same as a hard right hand. A knockdown scores only for the punch or punches that lead to it. The focus of each boxer is on scoring as many cumulative points as possible; not on taking unnecessary punches in order to deliver one hard punch.

Safety Precautions
Is amateur boxing safer than pro boxing?
Amateur boxing is safer than pro boxing. Amateur boxing goes to great lengths to protect its athletes. Amateur boxing must wear a mouthpiece at all times, force-absorbent headgear, and a shirt to absorb sweat and dirt. Women boxers are also required to wear breast protectors. Amateur boxing gloves are designed to absorb not transmit shock. Finally, amateur boxing referees exercise more control by using eight counts and evaluating the boxers throughout the competitive bout. In addition to these things, both pre and post bout physicals are required of all amateur boxers.
